About Me
I founded TforTransition because I saw firsthand how pivotal educational transitions can be in a young person’s life, and how often they are poorly supported. Throughout my career, I have worked across a range of settings, including special schools, mainstream schools and specialist provisions. These experiences gave me a deep understanding of the challenges children and families face when navigating changes in education, particularly for those who are neurodivergent or have additional needs. During this time, one thing became very clear: transitions matter. When they are rushed, poorly planned, or unsupported, anxiety can escalate, and young people can begin to disengage from education. In some cases, this leads to emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA), and later, for some young people, becoming NEET post-16.
I founded TforTransition to focus specifically on this critical point in a young person’s educational journey. My work centres on supporting children and young people through key educational transitions so they feel more prepared, confident and safe as they navigate change.
I believe that when transitions are approached with care, preparation and understanding, they can significantly reduce anxiety and help young people remain engaged in education.
My approach is rooted in collaboration, compassion and practical support for families. I work to ensure that children and young people feel heard, understood and empowered, while helping the adults around them create environments where they can thrive. Ultimately, my goal is simple: To ensure that educational transitions work with children and young people, not against them.
